The 25th ‘Ecomondo’ international trade fair will be held in Rimini from 8 to 11 November 2022. For many years, it has been an undisputed reference point in Europe for technological and industrial innovation, sustainable development, circular economy, the fight against climate change, and the promotion and enhancement of new economic and cultural models.
It is no coincidence that, with many testimonials, presences and parallel events, the Rimini event sets itself as a strong parallelism with the 27th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP – Conference of Parties no. 27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where from 6 to 18 November numerous scientists, technicians, political and institutional representatives from about 200 nations set the goal of finally giving concrete implementation to the Paris Agreement (COP no. 21, 2015) and to the international community’s commitments on climate change
At #Ecomondo 2022 (8 and 9 November next), guest of #EIC Accelerator – European Commission, ISCLEANAIR will be present with the #APA technological innovation, validated at the very high level (TRL) of pre-industrialisation precisely thanks to the financial and promotional contribution of Brussels in the period February 2018 – December 2020 (Technology Readiness Level n. 8)

At the stand of #EIC Accelerator – European Pavillion (HALL SOUTH – 069, near the Innovation Arena) ISCLEANAIR officials will be present and an innovative system (advanced prototype) of the #APA – Air Pollution Abatement technology in the “flowerpot” configuration will be presented.
The APA technology, in the course of 2021 and again in 2022, was improved and elevated to the highest technological level preparatory to subsequent industrial production (TRL – Technology Readiness Level no. 9) as part of the European project #PURE – “air Purification Units for manufactuRing Environments”, implemented in close collaboration by an international consortium led by #COMAU as led partner, together with #CEA and #FAGOR; the #PURE project was a major success and, as planned, enabled new industrial developments, the use and future commercial deployment of #APA technology and solutions in the light of a concrete operating model, recently updated with the revisitation of the strategic plan carried out in agreement with the company’s shareholders.
#ISCLEANAIR, once again stepping out of the box, in recent months has undertaken capitalisation processes that are still underway, and internationalisation activities towards the United States, China and India, looking well beyond the vast and profound global system criticalities related to the pandemic crisis that have characterised the last few years and slowed its growth; in addition, by opening up to new collaborations with members and important industrial and commercial partners, it has launched several projects to serve the so-called ‘net zero building’, both in Italy and the UK, and designed innovative development models, positioning itself in a differentiating manner on the value chain of the increasingly numerous initiatives of the hydrogen supply chain, sustainability, CCU&S (Carbon Capture Utilisation & Storage) programs, and agreements for innovation and industrial research, enabling a more effective and profound implementation.
The #APA ambient air purification systems are filterless and based on the use of simple water (nature – based) and, in the versatile and scalable configuration exhibited at #Ecomondo 2022, have been realised in close collaboration and co-investment with #Eni, as part of an interesting Open Innovation project (2021 – 2022) called ‘Innovation Match – Let’s overcome the Emergency’; the initiative, which is still ongoing, has recently been directed towards new technological developments thanks to technical improvements identified in particular with the University of Pisa (Dip. to Earth Sciences – Acoustics) and EIT Manufacturing (European Institute of Innovation and Technology), in terms functional to the definitive introduction of the products on the market.
At the ‘Ecomondo’ International Trade Fair in Rimini, #APA technology feels like at home: in November 2012, in the ‘Sustainable City’ pavilion of the ecological event, one of the first experiments of the solutions implemented at the prototype level was carried out, demonstrating the significant and widespread use capabilities and the extraordinary positive effect resulting from the implementations, both environmentally and in terms of benefit for the people in the spaces of use; thanks to the use of a cluster of 6 industrial prototype #APA systems, the event demonstrated the incisive abatement of the main air pollutants by more than 50% after only a few days of operation of the air cleaning technology, in particular of atmospheric particulate matter (PM).
The following year, in November 2013, the #APA technology (or rather, ISTECH, the company of the founders that had performed the prototyping) was awarded the ‘1st National Green Economy Award’ by the Sustainable Development Foundation (#SUSDEF) and Ecomondo, with the awarding of the medal of merit by the President of the Republic.
In view of the relevance of the activities carried out in terms of innovation and technological development, integrated with beauty and design, as well as the concrete opportunities for extensive application in all living and working spaces to benefit people’s health and the environment, it has been decided with the European Commission bodies (European Innovation Council, EIT Manufacturing projects and innovations on site) to present and exhibit APA innovation, in the same “APA Planter” configuration, in Brussels on 7 and 8 December, at the European Summit on Innovation and Technology (https://eic.ec.europa.eu/events/european-innovation-council-summit-2022-78-december-2022-2022-12-07_en)
